Rules in the Family
Earlier this week I stumbled into a conversation about some of the rules of my family. Not basic rules that a family has, but weird rules that, specifically, my family had. I thought about it for a while and ended up figuring out that one of the strangest rules that my family has is if I really wanted something when I was younger and didn't have enough money to buy it, if I beat my dad in an arm-wrestling competition, he would buy it for me. Unfortunately for me, my dad was very fit and would go to a gym every day at his friend's house labeled "The House of Pain" so I was rarely able to get what I was hoping for, but I'm sure that my dad let me win a few times to help me gain some confidence.
I also started thinking about what other families had for rules and came across some basic ones like, kids weren't allowed to go to their Christmas presents until the parents had woken up, or all the chores had to be done before the children were able to watch T.V. or play with their friends. I had a few of those rules myself, and was able to relate to the people that I was talking to, although they were not able to relate to me with the arm wrestling one.
