Family Dynamic

 One of the main things that I was thinking about this week was the dynamic of the family, Mom and Dad being the caretakers of the family, and whether or not it changes. It was a very interesting thing to think about, I kept going back to my own family and seeing if there were any changes to my family dynamic. From what I remember didn't really see to many changes in my dynamic, but I did notice a tendency of my older sister Ashlynn to take care of us when my parents were busy. That was a very slight dynamic change, but I know I have had friends and family with a much different family situation than mine. One of my good friends never had a father in his life and I asked him about his experience with the family dynamic and who stepped up when his father was not there. He told me it was his mother mostly, but he also had some older brothers that, when they were older, would help with finances, schooling, and keeping the house orderly so that their mom can focus on providing for all of them, which I guess is another change to their dynamic because the provider of the family is no longer the father, it was the mother.

In one of my classes I was able to go over what it would be like for a family trying to move across the country, and it was interesting to go over their family dynamic as well, especially because the father had moved away first for about a year to get settled in the country they were heading to, and the mother had to help provide for the family because the father was sending money to the family as well so that they could save money to head over to their new home. eventually the children were caring for the mom and also themselves because the mom was working, and the dynamic was constantly fluxuating. It was interesting to see how different families can be, especially when the dynamic changes so suddenly.

Mother VS Father

 As a kid from what I Think is a pretty healthy family I have found an interest in comparing the roles of my parents and how they differ from each other. One of the first major things that I noticed was that mothers are wonderful at the nurturing side of parenting, especially the caring side. Don't get me wrong, dads are also great nurturers, but moms are just built for the role. Mothers are very adept at sensing people's feelings and helping with emotions, while fathers are a bit better at the physical side of loving.  I think evolution has had a part of play in the development of the family orientation. In the past you can see even more evidence of the family having roles, like early Indians where the mothers stayed and taught the children while the fathers hunted and protected the families. It's been an interesting week being able to take a look at my family and see the difference that my mom and dad have had when taking care of the family.

During Marriage

 One of the things that I was thinking about this week and was able to have a discussion about in one of my classes was the ability to have friends when you're married. Obviously it's okay to have friends while your married, but the thing that I was questioning was if it was okay to have a friend of the opposite gender. It was said that a large cause of cheating in relationships are caused by having friends of the opposite sex and hanging out with them without your spouse being there. It is still entirely possible to have friends of the opposite sex but they usually come from having friends that are a couple that you hang out with, with your spouse. I personally don't think I am going to have an issues explaining to my wife why I have so many female friends because the only girls that I talk to consistently are the ones I'm related to, but in all seriousness, I think it has been interesting learning more and more about what it is to be a couple and how to have a healthy...

Dating to Marriage

 I think one of the things that I was interested in the most to talk about today was the way people date so they can be prepared for marriage. There is a process to these things and it's very interesting that it's not as followed as it used to be. Usually, you start out as friends, then you go into courtship, then an engagement, and finally marriage. Starting out friends seems to make a lot of sense but the way that the world is currently, dating your "friends" is not very popular, most people just skip the friendship part and jump straight to courtship. I think marrying a friend would be a splendid idea, especially dating someone I knew first as a friend, mostly because it would make the dating process so much easier. You already know that you like them and that you get along, so the dating process doesn't have to take so long, and you can move to the engagement stage fairly quickly.
