Family trends
My biggest goal in life is to become the coolest dad ever, so I figured it would be a good idea to head into a family relations class while I am in college. One of the topics that we studied in that class caught my attention enough for me to through my thoughts at you guys, family trends, what's happening in a family household that has changed within the past few decades? One of the major things that I think is going to have a huge effect on me, especially with my goals in mind, is the divorce rates, I worry that if I try to start a family and it doesn't work out, I don't want my kids to have a lot of negative influences in their lives, let alone any. At first, I thought that the divorce rate was around 50%, but I have learned that the actual number is about 24% which is still a lot, but it makes me feel much better about starting a family.
Not only was divorce one the big factors that I looked into but, the age of marriage was another thing that interested me. Mostly because of the changes that have happened in the past, average age of marriage used to be around 19-21 just back a few decades, but not it's around 28-30, almost a 10-year jump. Why is it becoming more popular to marry later on in life? I'm not sure, but I personally I think it has a lot to do with marriage being less and less important to most people. Like I said before having a family is one of my biggest goals, if not the biggest, and making sure that my children can grow up in a safe environment is going to be a key factor for me when it comes to starting that family.
Good job Gunner!
